Day 12 - The Beauty of This Land

a poem by Laura

The beauty of this land,
goes much deeper than the view.
It flourishes among the palms and rice,
providing simple clues.

It's contentment, peace and understanding,
all the while crickets sing.
The rhythmic monks soulful chanting,
Are the memories which remain.

Two homes were built by strangers,
Whom quickly became friends.
As the height of walls grew higher
There were smiles without end.

In time build sites were ringing
With laughter and funny pranks.
All the while, a dream in the making,
With many reasons to give thanks.

The houses are now completed,
And in time will become homes.
Filled with laughter and love through generations,
Which shall never stand alone.

We all had our own personal reasons,
a calling some may say,
The land "of the smile" has given me more,
Than I ever could hope to repay.

Laura with a very happy mother and child
